If you searched how to enable word suggestion in WhatsApp, you want the row of words above the keys. WhatsApp did not hide that row in a chat setting.
Gboard calls it suggest words or the suggestion strip. Samsung and iPhone often call the same row predictive text. Auto word is the same bar. WhatsApp only shows whatever keyboard is open.

Where the switch actually is
- Android, usually Gboard — open a chat, tap the message field, then the gear on the keyboard. Turn on suggest words or next-word suggestions. There is no WhatsApp row with that name.
- iPhone — Settings → General → Keyboard → Predictive. A third-party keyboard ignores that switch and uses its own.
- Samsung — Samsung Keyboard has its own suggest-text row. If the chat is using Gboard, the Samsung setting does nothing.
- You want it off — the same keyboard, the other direction. See turn off predictive text. That title stays the off switch.
Pages that stay as they are
- Predictive text is this bar under the other name. The turn-on steps stay on predictive text on WhatsApp. We are not changing that title.
- It used to show words, and then it stopped — predictive text not working. This page is the name “word suggestion,” not the “it stopped” question.

If the next word is not the sentence you meant, paste the draft into Shmooz. That does not install word suggestions into WhatsApp. You send the message yourself.
