If you searched how to listen to a voice note without opening WhatsApp, or play a WhatsApp voice message from the notification, you want the audio from the shade or the lock screen. You do not want the chat to take over the phone.
On many Android phones the voice-note notification has a play control. Tapping it can play the audio while WhatsApp stays in the background. On iPhone, the notification usually opens the app. There is no matching play button on every iOS version, and we will not invent one.
We cannot press that control for you. We are not WhatsApp Support. An app that promises to play someone’s notes from outside WhatsApp is a common way to get the account restricted.

Forward a voice note you already have into Shmooz for a transcript. We cannot press play on your notification, and we are not WhatsApp Support.
A notification player is not a hidden listen. On some phones the sender still sees that the note was played once the audio starts, or once the chat opens behind it. Test with your own second phone. We cannot look that up, and we cannot turn the mark off.
Read receipts off still only hide blue ticks on texts. There is no second switch for the notification. See read receipts off and a voice note.

The iPhone notification is built to open the app. If you do not see a play control, WhatsApp did not put one there. We cannot add it.
Maybe. It depends on the phone and the WhatsApp version. Nobody can promise the sender sees nothing. Do not install a tool that says it can.
We only see a voice note you send into this chat. Forward one you already have and ask for a transcript: transcribe a WhatsApp voice note. That does not press play on the original notification.
